Saving Lives, One Tail at a Time, Together
Tails Of Hope ND
Our mission
To Create a Happy Tail for Every Life
Our mission is to work with the community to save community cats in need, by responsibly and reliably providing trap, transfer and veterinary care, before securing new, loving homes to ensure the wellbeing of every cat we encounter.
We are currently foster based, so community involvement is very important. Without the support of those willing to open their homes to animals in need, we are very limited on the lives we can save and the impact we can make. If you’re interested in helping, please check out the foster application on the applications page.
Fosters are vital for saving lives, but so is funding. We have multiple ways to help with this. We will gratefully accept donation, big and small. No amount is too little. It all adds up. Please take the time to review and consider one of our sponsorship packages at the bottom of the donations page, or place a donation of any amount through the link of your choice on the same page.
Who We Are
Tails Of Hope is a small, foster based rescue located in Surrey, ND. We started with one litter of kittens in the basement of our founder, but, one litter turned into another, and another, and another. Things quickly snowballed, and after thousands of dollars of vet bills, food, litter and supplies and over 25 cats saved (a few lost) Amber decided it wasn’t a one time thing, but a calling.
To say the journey has been a struggle is an understatement. Rescue is not easy. We far too often see severe injuries, severe illness and starvation. No matter how hard you try, you can’t save them all. That is a hard fact to accept, but it is a fact. The more help we can get from people like you, the more lives we can save.
Our Focus
Our focus is on community or colony cats. We work to trap, vet and home kittens found abandoned by or who lost mothers, stray females with litters of kittens and wandering toms, and assist property owners that have colonies that have gotten out of control. Due to the large numbers of stray, feral and colony cats, we have made the difficult decision not to take owner surrenders. This was a tough call to make, but we feel with the number of resources available to individuals (social media and other rescues and shelters) we want to give the underserved a chance as well.
In addition to taking care of or assisting with these cats, we take things one step further. We understand taking care of a large number of cats can take it’s toll on anyone. Properties get damaged and the mess gets out of control. We have already assisted multiple property owners with things such as cleaning up barns or houses overrun with cat food containers, broken shelters and large amounts of cat “mess.” We help get the situation safely livable for the cats and the property owners. This is a huge task and this is all done by our amazing volunteers. If you are interested in helping restore the property and dignity of those who care for the ones who can’t care for themselves, please fill out our volunteer application on the applications page.
